Varsity Tutors: War, Science, and Survival
Scientists are people just like you and me. So when war interrupts people’s lives, science can be put on pause or lost, too. That’s why we owe a debt of gratitude to the great scientists who persevered through persecution and danger to pursue their passion for learning how the world works.
In this class you’ll explore the challenges and triumphs faced by Jewish scientists Albert Einstein, Georg Bredig, and Marietta Blau, who endured many hardships amidst the Holocaust and World War II in order to pursue their science. And you’ll honor them by applying some of their most famous discoveries and accomplishments to hands-on science projects.
