Institute’s Beckman Center Receives NEH Grant for Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
$200K+ award to fund stipends for history of science scholars for next three years.
The Science History Institute announces that our Beckman Center for the History of Chemistry has received a $204,428 Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutes grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The award will fund stipends for postdoctoral research fellows from 2024 through 2027. Scholars working in the history of science may apply beginning in October 2023.
The Institute is one of ten organizations to receive this prestigious NEH grant, joining a distinguished list that includes the Winterthur Museum, the Center for Jewish History, and the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture. A total of $2.25 million was awarded to libraries, museums, and centers for advanced study to provide scholars with research time and access to resources beyond what is available at their home institutions.
With around 20 scholars in residence each year, the Science History Institute is home to the largest private fellowship program in the historical study of science, medicine, and technology in the United States. Researchers travel from all over the world to use our collections and take part in a vibrant scholarly community.
